Making Money Online With

So Christmas has been and gone. Are you now facing the New Year and wondering how you can keep up the Christmas spirit and goodwill for the coming year? Well, it certainly helps when you know how to do so for free from your own home.

There are so many simple ways to volunteer or donate to charity by giving up a small amount of your time or re-purposing some money you would normally have spent. So here’s a list of five of the best quick and easy ways to volunteer or donate to charity. Bookmark the list of charities and use it to do the rounds weekly!

id="more-61896">

Skip1.org

This is a great concept — it’s a site which makes you think about how much money you waste on frivolous things. You nominate something which you will give up, say a lunch or newspapers for a month. Then you donate that same amount of money to feeding a hungry child.

Yes, you’re handing over money to charity, but it’s money you would have spent anyway. It’s also easy to share news of your donation with your friends via social networks, and hopefully convince a few of them to skip something for charity too.

style="text-align: center;">

Free Rice

Free Rice has been around a while, but it’s so good it’s worth making sure it’s on this list. Play a simple, addictive trivia quiz and Free Rice will donate rice for each of your correct answers. This is a free and simple way to give whenever you have a free moment. Read more on FreeRice here.

style="text-align: center;">

Causes

There are a number of things you can do using Causes, including raising awareness for your chosen charity and helping to raise funds for them. By far the easiest way to donate money with Causes is to set up a birthday or holiday fund. This way, instead of receiving presents from friends and family, you simply ask them to donate the money on your behalf. It takes about two minutes to set up, since you can log in with Facebook Connect – just choose the charity and you’re set!

style="text-align: center;">

Charity Gifts

Here’s another easy way to spend your money on charity instead of something you were already going to pay for. Instead of giving gifts to your friends, give them the knowledge that you have donated to charity on their behalf. The Donation4Charity website searches all the big charity gifting sites (such as UNICEF, WWF and Oxfam) and lets you search the gifts according to how much money you have available to spend. Buy a goat for charity for about the same price as a modest gift!

style="text-align: center;">

Sparked

Spend 5-10 minutes donating your expertise to charity: Give website feedback, brainstorm fundraising ideas or help design an awareness campaign. This is what they need help with – if you can spend a few minutes working on it then you’ve made a difference to a real charity with just a moment of your time. Read more on Sparked here & get going!

I’ve often wondered if the early Web pioneers had it all to do over again if Web companies would have put less of an emphasis on free.

People have been conditioned against paying for services or content on the Web, and the Web elite only have each other to blame. For all the talk of Web companies getting users first and “figuring out” how to make money later, the only two jaw-droppingly, multi-billion-dollar, innovative new ways to advertise online have been Google’s paid search ads and Groupon’s solution to unlocking local ad dollars on a mass scale. Those who win big–like Google– just perpetuate the cult of free content and services as a way of spoiling would be competitors. Witness a big disconnect between popularity and money. Exhibit A: Yahoo.

As a result, Netflix and Match.com are two of the only companies to have figured out ways to build large, lucrative subscription businesses online. Meanwhile, LinkedIn is one of the only Web 2.0 companies that has created a huge business with a freemium business model.

But on the mobile Web it’s a do-over, and it’s a totally different playbook from FREE! People are conditioned to pay for stuff over phones in a way they aren’t online, and they’re not flinching. According to Citibank’s US Internet Stock 2011 Playbook released today, Apple will generated as much as $2 billion in gross app revenue in 2011. For perspective, that’s about the same size as Citibank’s estimate for the entire online video advertising market next year, nevermind way more people watch YouTube than have an iPhone and it’s been in the cultural zeitgeist longer.

The report also cites Gartner’s estimates that the total app market was around $4 billion in 2010 and should grow to a whopping $27 billion by 2013. The biggest driver is smart phone penetration, the impact of which Citibank compares to the spread of broadband on the computer-based Internet in the early 2000s. Globally, smart phone unit sales grew 53% in 2010, and Citibank expects it to grow 29% in 2011 and stay in the mid-20% growth range through 2013.

Several years ago, it was controversial to say that a fledgling product called Android — not the hyped up purchase of YouTube– would be Google’s best bet at another hit on the scale of paid search. Android is already making $1 billion in revenues with an indirect monetization strategy, and Citibank expects that could double next year– not only eclipsing YouTube but the entire online video category. Now calling Android Google’s future is almost a cliche. Good thing Google hedged its bets.

For those that already have a blog or have been thinking about starting one there is a question on everyone's mind:

"How can I quickly start making money with my blog?"

As a blogger for over three years and have experienced ups and downs with earning money through blogging, I would like to share with you a few of the tips, tricks and methods I have learned over the years to earn an online income.

STEP 1: BUILD YOUR BRAND

Before you ever begin making money online with your blog you're going to need to do one vital thing: build up your brand.

When you first begin blogging you're not going to be well known unless you're already famous; with that being said, you will need to do a lot of hard work creating content which will get you noticed by fellow bloggers and begin pulling in traffic through search engines.

Every new piece of content you create should be within your own voice, pose a unique approach to conveying your message and be timeless (content which people will reference for years to come).

After a few months, with enough interaction between other blogs, content and your budding community, only then will you be able to quickly begin to make some real money with your blog.

STEP 2: START WITH ADVERTISING

As your blog is going, it's best to begin making money slowly so you can learn what your community accepts and do the prelimary testing into what your market demands.

The easiest way to begin making money with your blog is by installing Google Adsense. Google Adsense displays relevant ads on every page the code is place in which you get paid if a visitor clicks an Adsense link.

Although it's tempting to jump into the more lucrative methods to make money with your blog, starting off with basic advertising is the best way to go.

Soon after (once your blog picks up in popularity), you will be able to sell advertising spots on your blog which will give you a direct and stable income from your blogging efforts.

STEP 3: BEGIN AFFILIATE MARKETING

The next logical step in making money with your blog is to find an affiliate product or service and promote it through your content and blog.

Affiliate marketing allows you to sign up to promote other people's products or services in exchange for a commission.

A few of the easiest affiliate marketing platforms to start with are:

- Amazon Associates

- eBay affiliates

- Clickbank

The trick to getting the best results out of your affiliate marketing is to only promote products or services which you've either actually used or have a clear conscious that your community can benefit from each.

Your blog niche will greatly determine which kind of products or services you promote; you wouldn't promote items which don't fit in (ex. make-up in a dog niche).

With each new post, incorporate your affiliate links within the context of the content - lead with a call-to-action which will entice visitors to click through your link, buy the item and earn your a commission.

STEP 4: CREATE YOUR OWN PRODUCT

The final step in earning money through your blog is to create your own product. Although, depending on which type of product you create, it can take time to develop there are also quick ways you can create these items by repurposing your existing content or skills.

For the most part, many bloggers go with the following route when creating their own products or services:

1. Create an eBook

2. Create a video series

3. Create an audio CD

4. Host a full course

5. Consult or be a tutor

6. Sell their skills

Because the product you create is from your own work, you will be able to earn all of the earnings - you won't be sharing it with affiliate networks.

CONCLUSION

A blog is one of the best ways to begin making money online in a variety of fashions from advertising, affiliate marketing and creating your own products.

As your blog grows, you will build a bigger brand which gives you additional influence on your community and the niche. Positioning yourself as the expert will help drive up sales and create a quick source of revenue whenever you publish a new post - best of luck!
